Youth on the Street Forum and Meeting with Stakeholders

On the 12 March 2009 AYPAD Organization in partnership with save the children and the coalition of Street Children organized one day Forum for street Children themed Disable also have the rights The forum commenced at one 10:30 am at the organization head office at the national stadium in Freetown In his opening remarks, Chairman of AYPAD, Mr. Dalton A.K Bull , also served chairman for the occasion, intimated his audience about the aims and objectives AYPAD organization, one of which, he said, was working to reform street children and youths. "We have always been in constant contact with the youth and children on the street as this will help us identify their problem , advocate and lobby to donor for them to chip in and give their support as these children are really struggling on the street of Freetown and the country as a whole

In his statement, the Project Coordinator, Philip Salis Bangura, said reflecting on last years forum though the Child Right Act was enacted since 1992, very little was done to address child rights violation in the country, And that a coalition to advocate, lobby and act as a pressure group to government and stake holders. he continued by saying that only five organization have shown interest and are working with AYPAD to address the issues of street children we are asking donors and stake holder to help these children. in fact we have even start our orphanage home at kwama in waterloo were we are taking care of 50 children presently and all the support we get is just from local people who sick the interest of these children.

Children later took turning in explains the plight and how best AYPAD organization has help transformed their lives.
